You need German in your ordinary life as well as in your job. Without speaking German, it’s almost impossible to find employment. The integration into life here in Germany is only possible if you’re able to communicate in German. Therefore, the DAA Nürnberg organizes German Integration Courses together with the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF)
REQUIREMENTS
In general, the following people may take part in the Integration Course:
- foreigners with residence title
- German citizens with migration background
- EU citizens
- repatriates
CONTENTS AND PROCESS
Our Integration Course consists of a language course and a so-called orientation course. Common Integration Courses last 700 hours.
THE LANGUAGE COURSE
The language course consists of a basic course and an advanced training course. It lasts a total of 600 hours. The language course covers important subjects of daily life, e.g.:
- shopping
- living
- work and profession
- care and education of children
- spare time and social contacts
- media and the use of it
Furthermore, you learn how to write letters and e-mails in German, how to fill in forms and how to talk on the phone. During the language course you will receive tests, thereby you will be prepared for the final examinations at the end of the Integration Course.
THE ORIENTATION COURSE
After the language course, you will attend an orientation course. This lasts 100 hours.
The orientation course covers topics like:
- German history and culture
- rights and duties in Germany
- political correlations - values which are important in Germany, e.g., religious liberty, tolerance and equality
You finish the orientation course with a final examination at DAA Nürnberg.
WHAT YOU ALSO NEED TO KNOW
Before beginning the Integration Course, you need to take part in a placement test. The result of the placement test will decide which level of the course you should start with, and if a special type of integration course is suitable for you.
If you take part in the course regularly, which means that you exhaust the full quota of hours, but you don’t reach the preferred language level B1, you can apply for 300 more hours. You can then participate in the language examination once more free of charge. The aim of the integration course is that you pass the final examination. It consists of a language test and a test concerning the orientation course.
INTEGRATION COURSE CERTIFICATE
If you pass the language test with a level B1, and also the test concerning the orientation course, you will receive the “Integration Course Certificate”
SCALED LANGUAGE TEST: DEUTSCH-TEST FÜR ZUWANDERER (DTZ)
To get the “Integration Course Certificate”, you have to pass the language test “Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer” (DTZ) with a total result level B1. The test concerning the orientation course, contains e.g., questions concerning the political system of Germany, the variety of religions and the gender equality.
POSSIBILITIES OF PAYMENT
The BAMF pays 4,58 Euro per hour per participant. The participant shares the cost of 2,29 Euro per hour. For 700 hours, the course costs 1603,00 Euro including the final examination.
Beneficiaries of Unemployment Benefit II or welfare can be made exempt from payment. For special requirements you may get the money for your commuting expenses.
